About Team Member
Konstantinos E. Parsopoulos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Ioannina since July 2016 (recently promoted to Professor - appointment pending), where he is currently serving also as director of graduate studies. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at the same Department (2009-2016) and as Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Patras (2008-2009). His research interests focus on computational optimization and operations research, with an emphasis on high performance algorithms and their applications. He is (co-)author of 2 books and 117 scientific papers published in international journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings. He has also co-edited a Springer LNCS volume. His work has received more than 11000 citations and his h-index is 38 (Google Scholar). He has made research visits to the University of Dortmund, Germany (2001), INRIA, France (2003 and 2006) and Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada (2013).
He has participated as a committee member in 10 international journals and in numerous international scientific conferences. Also, he served as ACO-SI Track Chair at the top-tier Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO) in 2013 and 2014, and as Program Committee Chair at the Special Event on Analysis of Experimental Algorithms (SEA2 2019). He has provided refereeing services to numerous scientific journals, as well as external evaluations to the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Wiener Wissenschafts-, Forschungs- und Technologiefonds (WWTF, Austria), South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF) and Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR). He has also been an external referee for doctoral and postgraduate theses at the University of Malaga (Spain) and the University of Pretoria (South Africa). He has participated in various research projects, and has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Centre for Scientific Simulations of the University of Ioannina.
