About Team Member

Dr. Georgios F. Banias is a Senior Researcher (Grade B) in CERTH/iBO. He is also a collaborating Researcher at the Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering of the Aristotle University's Mechanical Engineering Department (Collaborating Staff) and Visiting Lecturer at School of Economics and Business Administration and Legal Studies, International Hellenic University. He graduated in 2005 from Aristotle University's Mechanical Engineering Department. In 2009, he was granted with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University Thessaloniki in the field of Environmental Informatics (Optimal CDWaste Management).

Since 2005, he has been involved in National and European Research Projects and in educational activities of the Aristotle University's Mechanical Engineering Department. He is the author of more than 70 scientific publications. His research interests focus on the area of Circular Economy and Sustainability, Environmental Impact Assessment, Life Cycle Analysis, Environmental Informatics and Decision Support Systems, Environmental Management Systems, Waste Management and Strategic Planning. He has participated in 28 funded research projects (3 as a Coordinator and PI, in 7 as a PI) . Dr Banias is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of Institute for Bio-Economy and Agri-Technology and the General Secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece / Section of Central Macedonia.
